Brand History
Current Production
Currently, Por Larrañaga consists of three vitolas, small sizes that
will suit the smoker who has only a limited amount of time to smoke and
possibly a restricted budget to spend on Cigars. All three Cigars are
well priced, with the Petit Coronas being available in
cabinet's of fifty, are great go to smokes.
Both the Montecarlos and Panatelas were
machine made until 2002. Now, like the
Petit Corona, the whole Por Larrañaga brand is man made.
Regional Editions
Por Larrañaga is one of the most popular brands when it comes to being
commissioned as a Regional Edition.
Along with the Por Larrañaga Panatelas, the Montecarlos is
reletively difficult to source. Production seems to halt for a year or
two and then re-starts.

Petit Coronas
This Por Larrañaga is interesting in it's only available in cabinet's of fifty,
whereas every other Petit Corona is only available in boxes of twenty
five. Up until 2007 the availability of the
Por Larrañaga Petit Corona was difficult to come by.
However, in recent years, production has
seemed to have picked up and now are reasonably easy to come across.
I find the production of the more rustic than other Cigars
of the same vitola. Additionally, the Por Larrañaga Petit Corona
requires a few years ageing before the qualities of the tobacco start
to come through to the fore.
Possibly the highest regarded and most sought after Regional Edition of
all, the Por Larrañaga Magnificos is a remake of
the popular Por Larrañaga Magnum, which in
the 1960's and 1970's one of the most sought after Cigars amongst
aficionado's.
The Por Larrañaga Small Robusto is the 2012 Regional Edition for
Italy.
As of the end of November 2012, the Small Robusto is yet to have been
released.
