I'm updating the site again

Posted :: 04.42PM on Thursday, 7th September 2006.

As you can see, bits and pieces of the site are being altered, while others being added.

New Beck Bootlegs to add, album reviews to include, and broken links to be fixed. Stay tuned!

A new year...

Posted :: 08.05PM on Thursday, 6th January 2005.

It's 2005, and it seems that my Poker playing is not letting up steam. Some gigs happening this month and February too, including Jesse Malin, Crosby & Nash and The Duke Spirit.

First steps is getting some of the features of this web site back and running - primarily the image gallery section that is on my second hard disk. Hopefully I'll have a good session this weekend on sorting this out.

I played an interesting hand last night at Party Poker where I'm not sure that I should have saw the river on:

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 5s, 5d.

UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, Hero calls, MP3 folds, CO raises, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) 2d, 3s, 3d (4 players)

UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, CO bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises, CO calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: (8.75 BB) 2s (4 players)

UTG bets, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls, CO calls.

River: (11.75 BB) Qs (3 players)

UTG bets, Hero calls, CO calls.

Final Pot: 14.75 BB

Would you have been as aggressive on the flop and call the turn and river?

Weekend's here, and things are feeling fine!

Posted :: 08.54AM on Friday, 9th July 2004.

Friday has come around once again. The week has gradually gotten better on the Poker front, while I've managed to clean a load of things on the website, but there's still loads more to do.

I don't know what I have in store for the weekend, I've got the go out to a nightclub feeling. My parents are up in Cardiff this weekend, there's no doubt that I'm going to get some free food :D

Next week I have a few live shows to go to, but I haven't decided if I'm going to go see all of them yet. I'm 30/70 on going to see Little Feat and Moe now, due to work commitments. I'm defiently going to see Simon & Garfunkel thought - this might be my only chance!

What else do I have to ramble on about? Nothing really...

Bummer...

My diary entries have all gone bellied up - will sort soon.

Spin another hot one - Buster Pointdexter!

Posted :: 12.26PM on Tuesday, 18th May 2004.

It's been a few hot days here in Cardiff - and it seems to be with us for the next couple of days! (fingers crossed!)

Went to see Troy Sunday night. The film was very good - not up to the standard of Gladiator, but well worth seeing nontheless. I came out of the cinema with a sad feeling. You don't see many films where both good and bad dying, and you feel that bad has truimphed. Hoo ha.

The Passion Of The Christ , Friday, and other mumbo jumbo

Posted :: 10.37AM on Friday, 14th May 2004.

Wahey - Friday's here, and the weekend is right around the corner. Looks like it's going to be a scorcher of a weekend so that will mean plenty of cycling time!

Finally went to see The Passion Of The Christ last night - a very powerful film. I'm still without words on how to describe some of the scenes in that film...

My Keane review is still not up on my review site, I should get it on tonight at some point. Will get Badly Drawn Boy, Morrisey and Sonic Youth reviews up too at some point.

Van Helsing, London and Other Funky Things...

Posted :: 08.39AM on Monday, 10th May 2004.

Monday morning, and I'm feeling like a mess. Went to see Van Helsing last night; ended up drinking way too much Coke. The movie was so-so, everything was average, not enough show-stopping action or sharp humour for my liking; but hey, it was a decent monster movie.

Went up to London over the weekend, and went to see the musical Jailhouse Rock among other things. Singing and music good, story, a bit crap. I haven't seen the original movie version so I cannot really give my honest opinion over it. If the movie was a bit crap then you'd expect the musical to be. Oh well.

My Keane album review should be up on the site today, plus hopefully I can review the new PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth albums too before long.

It's Been A Hard Day's Night...

Posted :: 10.31AM on Wednesday, 5th May 2004.

Morning people,

Been a hard couple of days, but things are starting to look up. I should finally have my British Sea Power live review and The Streets album review up on my site tonight.

Cleaned up one or two small things with my website last night - the playlist system on my site is quite neat now if I do say so myself.

Still haven't decided if I'm going to see Southern Culture On The Skids yet though - I've got a feeling that it will be an up and back in one night in the car show. Oh fun fun fun.

No new live gigs to go see though - I might go see Joy Zipper or The Cribs in the Cardiff Barfly... depends how my cash flow situation is. Good times around the bend.

Kill Bill, Duran Duran & The Usual Suspects

Posted :: 12.15PM on Thursday, 29th April 2004.

Been thinking about Kill Bill Vol. 2 for most of the morning. I went to see it last night at the UCI Cinema down Cardiff Bay and I was not dissappointed! Volume 2 feels much more like a Tarantino movie than the first part; and it's not just about the vasts amount of dialog and character interaction.

You'll squirm a lot more in this part - people just got sliced and killed in the first half; while the second half you feel the pain that gets inflicted onto Uma, Darryl and Michael throughout the film. Even the difficulty when Uma has to pick up Chopsticks with here battered and bloody hands makes you look away!

The second half defiently has more charm than the first. Anyway, back to other news...

I decided not go see Duran Duran at the Cardiff International Arena last night after. Paying that much money (~£40) to see them is way over the top, even with Scissor Sisters supporting them! I think I'll wait until they play a festival methinks...

It's Monday - Oh how I've suffered!

Posted :: 09.34AM on Monday, 26th April 2004.

It's Monday and I am in work - something I wasn't really expecting. All Sunday I had felt quite ill - not terribly ill, but the kind of ill that only comes from excessive drinking and partying from the previous night. But a good night's sleep sorted out my Sunday-coming-down blues and I'm back in action!

The Ball at the Cardiff Marriot was great. Too much red wine though - I think I may have spoilt my friendly association with my favourite bathtime tipple due to drink-it in a pint glass mentality at the ball.

Oh well - new week; lets see what it brings.
