ABV: 6.5%
Brewery: Brains
Brains' Strong Ale has been brewed specifically for the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival. Using an old receipe from the early days of the brewery, this beer is a headbanger at 6.5% ABV.
With a deep amber colour with a light head that clings nicely to the glass, the Ale itself looks like a winner. Tasting, the classic Brains profile of maltiness with hope coming through at the finish is there. You can taste this kind of profile in a Brains smooth or a Brains dark and it's here in the Strong Ale. The extra kick here though that's not found in the others however is the tingling of fruit that is detectable on the mid-palate.
Brains, you have done good with this one. I wonder how long will it be before this becomes at least a Seasonal Ale?
