Brewery Tours and Outings
Being part of Carmarthen and Cardiff CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, has allowed me to go visit Breweries in England and Wales. Breweries visited include the Purple Moose Brewery, in Porthmadog in North Wales, the Evan Evans Brewery in Llandeilo, South West Wales and the Kite Brewery in Gorslas, South West Wales.
Evan Evans Brewery, Llandeilo
For the Carmarthen CAMRA December Brewery Tour we visited the Evan Evans Brewery in Llandeilo. A cold Friday December night it was outside, however we were warmly greeted by James Buckley, Assistant Brewer and Simon Buckley, the Managing Director.
Purple Moose Brewery, Porthmadog
In August 2011, on holiday in North Wales, I took some time out to visit the Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog. Opened in 2005, the Purple Moose Brewery has become within a few short few years one of the most revered breweries in Wales. Two of their flagship brews, Glaslyn Ale and Dark Side of the Moose have won numerous awards from within Wales and beyond it's borders. As you can see from some of the pictures I have uploaded, the colour purple features heavily, including on their forklift!
Snowdonia Brewery, Waunfawr, Porthmadog
One of my favourite little brewpubs, the Snowdonia Brewery in Waunfawr, outside Porthmadog, brew a wide and interesting variety of Real Ales.
The Kite Brewery, Gorslas, Carmarthen
The newest microbrewery to open in South West Wales, The Kite Brewery found itself invaded one Saturday morning by members of the Carmarthen CAMRA group. On the day, we sampled three of the Ales they have kindly let us sampled. The Ales included were Thunderbird, Gorslas Ale and Cwrw Haf.
The Friends Brewery, Johnstown, Carmarthen
In the Friends Arms, Johnstown, Carmarthen, a new microbrewery aims to supply it's pub with new and challenging brews. After our trip to the Kite Brewery, we headed to The Friends Brewery to sample their newest creation, Carnival Ale.
