Marketing meeting brings up prospect of thick ring gauge short Partagas
Over the last few years we have seen the introduction of new sizes to compliment the already wide range of Cigars available in the Partagas range. The Serie E No. 2 and Serie D No. 5 have both been released in the last few years to fill the larger and smaller vitolas of the range respectively. However, Habanos SA are planning on introducing more releases in the forthcoming few years.
Last month saw a Habanos SA marketing meeting in Havana, where an addition to the Partagas range, the Partagas Serie D No. 6 was proposed. 90 milimetres in length and Fifty ring gauge, the Serie D No. 6 would be a fatter alternative to another recently released Cuban, the H. Upmann Half Corona, that is the same length as the Serie D No. 6 but only forty four ring gauge. The blend is intended to be similar to that of the Partagas Serie D. No. 4.
Another interesting piece of information regarding this release is that Habanos are going to package the Serie D No. 6 in bundles of thirty. Whether this information has been mis-translated or not I do not know. However, this implies that the Cigar could possibly be bundled in cardboard boxes such as some vitolas within the Quintero brand.
The expected release date, if the Partagas Serie D No. 6 does see the light of day is Summer 2014.
Are we seeing Habanos SA making a move to compete with the Non-Cuban NUB Cigars?
