Partagas Serie D No. 6 next to a H. Upmann Half Corona
If you have been following the news here on stevegriff.com and the online cigar forums recently you would know of the release of the Partagás Serie D No. 6. However, it's been hard to gauge what size exactly is this new short smoke. Well, worry no more, because Lou over at Canada Humidor, who is currently attending the Habanos Festival, sent a picture message to his good friend Ryan S. of a Partagas Serie D No. 6 next to a H. Upmann Half Corona:
As you can see, the Serie D No. 6 is virtually the same width as the Half Corona, however, the Serie D No. 6 is a 50 ring gauge (same thickness as a Robusto), whilst the Half Corona has a 44 ring gauge. The press releases that have been published online whilst the Habanos Festival has been taking place have mentioned that the purpose of the Serie D No. 6 is to be a full flavoured cigar in a short fifteen minute smoke.
If Habanos can replicate the success that they had with the Half Corona with the Serie D No. 6 then they can't go far wrong.
The Partagás Serie D No. 6 is the newest addition to the recent trend from Habanos of introducing small, stubby Cigars. Hopefully the Serie D No. 6 will build on the success of the H. Upmann Half Corona. Released in 2011, the H. Upmann Half Corona proved a hit with aficionados as it delivered in flavour regardless of it's size.

Released in the Autumn of 2011, the H. Upmann Half Corona is a short thirty minute Cigar. There's no real consensus at the moment regarding how well the Cigar is smoking and how well they will age, but early impressions amongst aficionado's is that the Cigar has been hit and miss.
