2015 Habanos Festival releases announced online

Habanos Festival schedule announced that reveals new Partagas, Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta as highlights.

Both the La Casa Del Habanos in Luxembourg and Knokke, Belgium have posted on their respective Facebook pages dates for next year's 2015 Habanos Festival. What's interesting is that we know from the evening events being held that week, what we are expected to see in the form of new Cigar releases.

Below is the information that I have received:

Monday 23rd Opening Night: Presentation of the Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Club Kings

Romeo y Julieta Club Kings.

Wednesday 25th Midweek dinner: Presentation of the La Casa Del Habano Partagas Maduro N°1

Partagas Maduro No. 1 - La Casa Del Habanos Release.

Friday 27th Gala Night: Presentation of the Montecristo 80 Aniversario Medias Coronas

Montecristo 80 Aniversario Medias Coronas.
Note that the image above states March and not February!

Prominent cigar enthusiast Koen Van Zandweghe noted this about the Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva:

I believe this is the first time a discontinued vitola (80's) gets a (Gran) Reserva editon. Interesting...

The Club Kings is an old Petit Corona sized Romeo y Julieta that came in aluminium tins of five, that were then housed in a box. Each box contained ten aluminium tins. The Club Kings came in both machine-made (with cellophane) and hand-made (without cellophane) formats. This Cigar was discontinued in the 1980's. It will be interesting if Habanos S.A. will only use the Club Kings name and stick it on a gigantic ring gauged Romeo, or they try and recreate the old Club Kings with packaging as far as they can.

Along with the Club Kings, we are in for another interesting release, The Partagas Maduro No. 1. It seems that the Maduro No. 1 will be a special release for La Casa Del Habanos stores worldwide. No-doubt this release will be the most controversial of the three. The release of the Cohiba Maduro 5 series was met skeptically, with Habanos S.A. dumming down the brand in order to tap into the Non-Cuban market share that has it's fair share of Maduro shaded wrappers.

Finally, we have the Gala Night, that celebrates 80 years of the Montecristo brand. I'm unsure whether the Aniversairo Medias Coronas will be a Coronas sized cigar or larger. Will be interesting too whether that this Cigar will be a Limited Edition or some other Special Release.

It's a funny old world when it comes to Cuban Cigars. We're already talking about what's in store 2015 wise when we haven't yet seen the releases that were slated for this year! Two weeks ago we finally saw the release of the Quintero Petit Quintero and the trio of new Vegueros vitolas (that we're due for release in 2013!)
