Cohiba Robustos Supremos, 2014 Limited Edition Cuban Cigar Information
The Robustos Supremos is the first Cuban Cigar to have a 58 ring gauge, making this Cigar currently the thickest Cuban Cigar in living memory. The Robustos Supremos follows in the footsteps of the Cohiba Behike and Pirámides Extras in utilising the new Cohiba Hologram band. Released in the last week of November 2014 in the major European markets.
The first 58 ring gauge Cuban Cigar
When news broke regarding the Cohiba Robustos Supremos in late 2013, the ring gauge had been touted to be a thick 55 ring gauge, that would make the Cigar a magnificos. However, fast forward to the 2014 Habanos Festival, where it turns out that the Robustos Supremos is actually a 58 ring gauge behemoth!
As of February 2014, the Cohiba Robustos Supremos is the largest ring gauged Cuban Cigar that has been produced in modern memory. Will we see a 60 ring gauge within the next five years? The changes are that very much we will...
Cohiba Robustos Supremos at the Habanos Festival
The Cohiba Robustos Supremos was first given out on the evening of the Trinidad Vigia launch, where each attendee was given one to smoke. One or two people noticed that the Cohiba band that was used on the Robustos Supremos were the same ones used for the Pirámides Extras. Seeing that the Piramide is only a 54 ring gauge whilst the Robustos Supremos is 58, the band only just wrapped it's way right round the Cigar!
My view on the Cohiba Robustos Supremos
Although the Robustos Supremos has only been available for little over a week, the verdict so far is that the cigar has been a massive success. If you have followed the various cigar forums over the past year, you would know that there were massive reservations regarding the Robustos Supremos, mostly regarding the cigar's massive ring gauge. But it seems this time round that Habanos have proved their critics wrong with delivering a flavourful, robust smoke.
Reviews from the Internet
Laurence Davis & Nic Wing smoke a Cohiba Robustos Supremos
Laurence is joined by Nic Wing to review the Cohiba Robustos Supremos. A lover of big cigars, the Robustos Supremos ticks all the boxes for Laurence who rates the cigar a perfect ten. Both Nic and himself are impressed not only with the draw, burn and flavour profile of the cigar, but also it's "power". Towards the mid-point of the cigar both Laurence and Nic were struggling with the nicotine "hit" of the Robustos Supremos. An after dinner cigar no doubt!
Ajay Patel's tasting of the Cohiba Robustos Supremos
Teddington LCDH owner Ajay Patel gives his verdict of the Cohiba Robustos Supremos. Like all other initial reviews of the cigar, Ajay notes how much ageing potential the Robustos Supremos has.
