El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme, Cuban Cigar Information
The Choix Supreme is a Robusto sized Cigar, one of only two vitolas left available in the El Rey del Mundo range. Light to medium bodied, the Choix Supreme makes for an outstanding fifty to one hour smoke. Sadly one of the most overlooked Robusto's in current regular production.
The Choix Supreme has always been one of my favourite Robusto sized Cigars. Light bodied, the Choix Supreme can be enjoyed at any time of the day, whether it is with a cup of coffee, a pot of tea, a glass of Champagne or a pint of your favourite golden ale. I find the Choix Supreme to be at it's best with a few years of age, I've smoked a few less than a year old that unfortunately still contained a good amount of ammonia.
Reading other people's perceptions regarding the Choix Supreme over the years, I quickly realised how overlooked this Cigar is. Possibly the least smoked Robusto shaped Cigars in regular production, it's a real shame, as this Cigar will appeal to both novices and the experienced aficionado.
Reviews from the Internet
Denis Kay over at CigarInspector reviewed a 2004 Choix Supreme that he had purchased while on a recent trip to Dubai. A great review where he outlines many of the key traits of this Cigar - light to medium bodied, with rich honey notes along with a bit of earth and leather that defines this smooth smoke. The Dirty Ashes
The Dirty Ashes blog has a great write up on a 2006 El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme, and how the Cigar impressed the author with it's distinctive, delicious flavour profile that is very different to what I traditionally smoke. A review well worth checking out as the writing and images are as of a high quality as usual.
I find the H. Upmann Connoisseur No. 1 needs time to mature in the humidor when young. Medium bodied, I found the Cigar I smoked recently bitter and acrid in parts.
