El Rey Del Mundo Infantes, 2013 Cuban Regional Edition, Cuban Cigar Information
A blog post by David Savona over at Cigar Aficionado first gave mention to a 2013 Regional Edition for Cuba, whilst at the Habanos Festival in February.
Fast forward to the 18th June, 2013 where the El Rey del Mundo Infantes was unveiled at the La Casa del Habanos of the Habana Libre Hotel. This launch was attended by distributors and retailers from around the world. The Infantes is a Robusto, the same dimensions as the Partagas Serie D No. 4 and Bolivar Royal Corona. The dimensions of this Cigar means that it's slightly thicker but slightly shorter than the Choix Supreme, a Regular Production vitola from the El Rey del Mundo brand. The 2013 Regional Edition for Cuba will be packaged in dress boxes of ten, with 5000 numbered boxes made in all.
A few pictures from the Infantes launch party at the La Casa del Habanos of the Habana Libre Hotel have also been published. If anyone has anymore images from the launch party please get in touch.
Ajay Patel over on his Facebook page his first thoughts on the El Rey del Mundo Infantes that he smoked one weekend shortly after the Cigar's release. He describes the Cigar as a "A very good afternoon cigar, not a strong cigar I would say mild to medium. This cigar over time and further ageing will be a great regional cigar.". Pictures included.
According to Cigar Aficionado, a box of the El Rey del Mundo Infantes at launch will cost 59 CUC's.
Reviews from the Internet
One of the first full reviews of the El Rey Del Mundo Infantes, A Alwadi decides to smoke the Infantes even though it's a young Cigar, in the hope that it shows promise.
As usual, the review is full of great up-close imagery of the Infantes, with an in-depth description of how the Cigar smoked throughout each third.
