Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure, 2013 Limited Edition Cuban Cigar Information
Unveiled at the 2013 Habanos Festival in February, the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure comes in a Slide Lid Box of ten Cigars. This is quite an interesting Limited Edition release as the Grand Epicure is presented in two rows of five Cigars.
The Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure, is a fifty five ring gauge, by thirteen centimetres in length. This will make the Grand Epicure a thicker, longer version of the Epicure No. 2. Therefore the Grand Epicure will share the same dimensions as the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill.
The Cigar features a special "Double Band". This band is similar to the one found on the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure de Luxe, 2012 La Casa Del Habanos release.
Habanos SA released a press release on the 9th July formally announcing the Grand Epicure, where they go on to say that the Cigar will start shipping to all major Cigar markets in the forthcoming days.
Reviews from the Internet
DrFever, a guest contributor on CigarInspector reviewed the
Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure and gave the cigar an overall of
five out of five, exclaiming that:
"But in my opinion, this is the best limited edition release I’ve sampled in quite a few years and next to the Cohiba Behike BHK52 this is perhaps the best “premium” Cuban Cigar I’ve had in quite a while.
I really enjoyed Devlin's review of the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure as he conveyed how much he enjoyed the cigar, from the first to final third. Devlin notes that although he could taste how young the cigar was from it's initial, acidic, metallic bite, the Grand Epicure developed into a "creamy, texturally beautiful cigar" with "sweeter vanilla, cocoa and fresh cut grass."
Habana Karlos Video Review
Karlos, a reletively new video cigar review blogger, smoked the Grand Epicure a few months after it's release, and was impressed with it's characterists, which he described as a fuller bodied Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2
Sautter Cigars Video Review
Once again Laurence at Sautter Cigars does a top notch job reviewing the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure. Laurence describes the Cigar as a more robust version of the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial.
