Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan, Cuban Cigar Information
As of 2014, the Le Hoyo de San Juan will be biggest ring gauged Hoyo de Monterrey in current production. What's interesting about this release however, is that the Cigar would be part of the Le Hoyo series, that is dominated by thinner ring gauged Cigars.
The San Juan will follow the trend of recent years of large bands with the name of the Cigar embossed underneath the logo. Examples of this band styling include the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure de Luxe and H. Upmann Connoisseur A.
The San Juan is available in slide lid cabinets of both 10 & 25 cigars.
San Juan y Martinez district
The Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan is the first Cuban Cigar to have it's tobacco sourced from one distinct part of the island - the San Juan y Martinez District, hence the name. San Juan y Martínez is a municipality in the Pinar del Rio province, where the tobacco used in the premium cigar bands are farmed.
White Wrapping Ribbon
Most cigars that come bundled in slide lid cabinets of twenty five will be tied together with a gold coloured ribbon. The name of the brand and cigar is written on the ribbon.
The Le Hoyo de San Juan breaks from the norm however with it's own striking white ribbon with the name of the brand in red and black text. Whether the rest of the Le Hoyo series will get this upgrade is unknown, but this change shows how Habanos S.A. takes the marketing and packaging of it's products seriously.
Expected & Actual Release
News of when the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan will be released came from an unofficial source. The owner of the Cigar.land blog was at the Urs Portmann tobacconist in Kreuzlingen where he was told that they have been sent to Swiss distributors and will be available in 'one or two weeks'. That means the Le Hoyo de San Juan will be on general release in Switzerland at the start of September 2014 and possibly other European retail outlets roughly the same time. However, by the 26th of August, the Le Hoyo de San Juan had already been released.
On release in Switzerland during the last week of August 2014, a box of twenty five Le Hoyo de San Juan is currently retailing for 445CHF (approx £293).
