José L Piedra Cuban Cigars - Models, Tasting Notes & Ratings
José L. Piedra was established in the 1880's by Vicente and Jose Lamadrid Piedra and is today one of the largest selling Cuban cigar brands. Medium in body but with a strong flavour profile, the tobacco used is short filler. All vitolas are all competively priced.
Machine-made and handmade production
In 2002, Habanos S.A. phased out machine made production across all brands, José L. Piedra included. All machine made vitolas, for example the Nacionales, Cazadores & Brevas from 2002 onwards are now handmade.
The tobacco that is used in the brand comes from the Vuelta Arriba region. All vitolas of the José L. Piedra brand are made in the regional factory in Santa Clara, the capital city of the Cuban province of Villa Clara.
José L. Piedra is unique in that all sizes come in plastic bundles of twenty five, housed in cardboard packaging reminiscent of budget non-Cuban brands. All vitolas within the brand are also available in cardboard packs containing five cigars.
The Petit Cazadores is the shortest of all the José L Piedra vitolas. The Petit Cetros has the thinnest ring gauge of all José L Piedra.
