Additional Information

The Selectos Finos has had universal acclaim from Cigar smokers since it's release. Other than the re-introduction of a long discontinued brand, there are two other things going for it - the flavour profile and shape. The flavour profile stays true to the full bodied profile of the brand, while the slender length helps intensify the flavours.

Due to only two thousand boxes ever being made, the La Escepción has already become notoriously tricky to obtain. Seeing as Italian Cigar retailers are not permitted to ship abroad, many Cigar Aficionados resort to purchasing Italian Regional Editions whilst on vacation in many of the large Italian towns & cities.

2013 Jar Release

Out of the blue, news came about in September 2013 that Diameda, the Italian Cuban Cigar distributor had announced that they had produced 200 porcelain jars, to house up to thirty La Escepción Selectos Finos Cigars. Two caveat's however, the jar does not come with any Cigars included, and you will have to buy two boxes of the La Escepción Selectos Finos in order to obtain the jar. The empty jar will retail at €100, while each box of the Selectos Finos will retail for €335 each. Therefore, in order to purchase the jar, the hopeful buyer will have pay €770 in total.

Two images currently exist of the Jar, however people have already pointed out a mistake on the cardboard box packaging, as it mentions 25 Selectos Finos while the jar itself clearly states 30 Selectos Finos! It looks as if the cardboard box packaging has had the artwork of the Selectos Finos Dress Box copied and pasted without any changes.

La Escepción Selectos Finos Jars arrive in Teddington, London.

A week after the announcement regarding the release of the La Escepción Selectos Finos Jars, the first retailer outside Italy had started offering selling this limited edition package. The La Casa Del Habanos in Teddington started offering the porcelain jars, with thirty Selectos Finos included inside, for £980 plus shipping.

Reviews from the Internet

Reading the reviews online, the general consensus amongst smokers is that the Selectos Finos is a full bodied and complex Cigar. There is a definite earthy element to the Cigar, that includes elements of minerality and grittiness. A pepper element also makes an appearance, with notes of white and chilli pepper. There are other flavours that have also come up in reviews, including cocoa, christmas pudding & dark fruits. The Selectos Finos does have it's mellower moments however, with oak and cedar making an appearance.

Theres plenty of reviews of the Selectos Finos, I have listed a few of the best ones below:

Brooks Whittington does a great job reviewing the Selectos Finos for his Cigar News and Reviews site, Halfwheel.com. Like every other Halfwheel Cigar review, the article contains a few high resolution images, with plenty of information regarding the brand, it's history and how the Selectos Finos rates in terms of construction, smoking characteristics and flavour profile.

PerfectSmoke.org reviews yet again a rare or difficult to source Cigar in the form of the La Escepión Selectos Finos. One of the most complex Cigars he's ever smoked, the author goes on to explain that the vast spectrum of flavours that the Cigar revealed whilst smoking was phenominal. The author goes on to conclude that the Selectos Finos will become "A Classic in the making!!".

The Cigar Surgeon, M.D. gives the Selectos Finos a 92 rating.
