Rafael González Perlas, Cuban Cigar Information
Although released circa October 2011, the Rafael González Perlas have only been available so far in Spain. Currently the Perlas retails for around €2.50 a Cigar. No doubt the price point is very popular with smokers as the word is that they have been selling well.
I was in fact surprised when Habanos SA decided to release the Perlas as part of the Rafael González brand, as the line had took a beating in the last ten years, with the Lonsdale, Corona Extras & Panatelas being discontinued.
Since it's release, the Rafael González Perlas has only seen positive reviews amongst all the major online Cigar blogs and forums. It's not easy for a new release. Most new releases are plagued with the fact that they don't have enough sufficient ageing time, and therefore people are disappointed to the fact that they come across as harsh, flat and uninteresting. However, the Perlas came out of the starting blocks like a whippet. The Cigar was praised for it's honest flavour profile, it's quality of construction and price point. True to it's brand, the Perlas had all the hallmarks of a classic Rafael González, tea, hints of espresso, wood and burnt tobacco.
One of the most desirable aspects of the Perlas is it's price point. The Perlas fills the medium price range when it comes short smokes. On mainland Europe, you can pick up a single Perlas for around three euros each. A bargain.
