Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 - Cuban Cigar Review
Discontinued in 2010, the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 is another casualty in Habanos SA's crusade to axe any long and slender Cigars. An interesting combination of flavours, the Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 has notes of Bell Pepper, leather and chocolate.
Today I'm reviewing the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3. Discontinued along with the other two sizes of the Serie du Connaisseur range in 2010, the hallmark of the range were their long and slender length and ring gauge.
I was lucky enough to be offered five of the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 as part of a group split. Since the chances of finding a box of these dwindles by the week, I decided to go and get hold a few.
The specific stick that I am reviewing today looks nice enough. The Cigar is nice enough, it looks somewhat rustic, but there are no blemishes.
With the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 being as slender as it is, you can't really go wrong when you cut and light the Cigar. After a few seconds getting the Cigar cut and lit, we're off. The draw is perfect. This Cigar has been constructed magnificently.
The first few draws I noticed that there was a little bit of white pepper, however this quickly died down into the second centimetre. Throughout most of the Cigar you get a good amount of Bell Pepper flavours. Definitely Green Peppers, with the odd hint of chocolate appearing from time to time.
Medium to full in strength, the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 has enough oomph to keep you occupied. There's plenty of Partagás like flavours here. Underneath the Green Pepper, there was a smooth, leathery profile that helped the Cigar along.
It is important with thin ring gauge Cigars to smoke them as slowly as possible. There's always a risk that the Cigar will burn too hot and therefore will impair the flavours. I found that by smoking the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 slowly enough, you can get around fifty minutes smoking time.
It is a shame that the Partagás Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 been discontinued. I could see these being a great leftfield smoke when I'd want something a little different. We still have the La Gloria Cubana range of Cuban Cigars with two long and slender lengths. Hopefully we won't lose these to the discontinuation list anytime soon.
