Summer Ale by The Celt Experience

Summer Ale, by the Celt Experience is a medium bodied amber ale, that has delicious marmalade tones. Another winner by the Caerphilly brewery.

Type: Golden Ale
ABV: 4.2%
Brewery: The Celt Experience

As the title points out, Summer Ale is The Celt Experience’s seasonal offering. I’ve never seen it available in bottle form, only from the pump. So when I found this on sale at the Pen & Wig in Cardiff, I just had to give this a try.

On the nose, there’s not much happening in terms of aroma. There’s some malt, but that’s about it. A hazy amber in colour, there’s no carbonation and there’s a slight cloudy nature to the Ale.

Tasting wise, there is much more going on. Thick in the mouth, there’s this marmalade play going on that’s very very tasty. With the malty undertones, there’s this bitter finish that rounds off the beer nicely.

And that’s about it. Summer Ale is not exactly exciting, but I get the feeling that it’s not meant to be an amazing complex beer. It’s just an easy going, highly enjoyable, drinkable Ale. I would question whether it’s really a summer ale, as I would think it’s more of an Autumn beer with the thickness of the beer in the mouth. But overall, a good effort from The Celt Experience.
